Program Name: Brazil - Social Justice & Sustainable Development
Type: Experiential field-based
Housing: Students live with local families: seven weeks in Fortaleza and a short stay with rural working families.  Other accommodations include hostels, private homes, and/or small hotels.
Program Eligibility: One semester of Portuguese or two semester of a college-level Romance language (preferably Spanish).

Belem (SIT Amazon)

Program Name: Brazil - Amazon Resource Management and Human Ecology
Type: Experiential field-based
Housing: Students live with  local families: four week homestay in Belem and two shorter homestays in two different rural areas.  Other accommodations include small hotels and a short stay on a riverboat.
Program Eligibility:  Preparation in environmental studies, ecology, or development studies is required.  A background in Portuguese, Spanish, or other Romance language is recommended.

Salvador de Bahia (SIT Health)

Program Name: Public Health, Race, and Human Rights
Type: Experiential field-based
Housing: Students live with local families: seven weeks in Salvador, three days in a Quilombo community on Maré Island, and a short stay with rural working families.  Other accommodations include hostels, private homes, or small hotels.
Program Eligibility:  Background in Portuguese, Spanish, or another Romance language is highly recommended.
