CMConnect

CMConnect is the comprehensive online communications and recruiting program used by CMC Career Services and the 7C Consortium. Through CMConnect students can access the 7C on-campus recruiting program for hundreds of full-time employment opportunities. Students should carefully and thoroughly fill out their CMConnect profile and educate themselves about the features offered on CMConnect that will streamline their job search (creating a search agent, signing up for targeted emails, for example).  Video tutorials for using CMConnect are available on the Career Services webpage.

Sponsored Internship Program

Students are strongly encouraged to participate in internships during their undergraduate years, and one of the flagship programs offered by CMC is our Sponsored Internship Program.  The Career Services Center coordinates this program which provides funding for summer internships in the U.S. and abroad.  CMC-sponsored internships are an ideal way to gain hands-on work and life experience.   During the summer of 2012, CMC supported approximately 120 internships.

Nationwide Internships Consortium

CMC shares internship listings with 16 other selective liberal arts colleges across the country.  This consortium provides access to over 3,000 internship listings each year.  NIC is accessed through CMConnect.

Selective Liberal Arts Consortium

CMC is a partner in the Selective Liberal Arts Consortium (SLAC) which provides additional internship and full-time employment opportunities for juniors and seniors. SLAC organizes pre-selected interviewing days during late November and Winter Break. CMC students participate in the Chicago (Nov. 30, 2012), New York (Jan. 4, 2013), Washington DC (Jan. 7, 2013) and San Francisco (Jan. 11, 2013) events. These events offer a great opportunity to meet with organizations that do not interview at The Claremont Colleges. Companies come from all over the country and represent a variety of industries. Opportunities are available in fields such as publishing, law, science, education, government, non-profit, business, and finance. Information sessions for SLAC occur in late September and early October. The registration deadline for the Chicago event is October 17 and the registration deadline for the other 3 events is October 31.

Get Involved and gain valuable experience

Volunteer in the community, be a tutor at a local school, lead a WOA! adventure--there are many ways to get involved and gain valuable leadership experience during your time at CMC.  The Center for Civic Engagement offers many opportunities to share your talents or interests outside of your academics.  This is a great way to learn more about yourself, what you are good at and what you enjoy, and it can bring breadth to your resume as well.
