Presidential Search Committee Update

June 15, 2012
Dear Fellow Members of the CMC Community,
I am writing to update you on the work of the Presidential Search Committee.
As Chair of the Board of Trustees Harry McMahon outlined previously, the Committee will focus on three core functions during the search process: Definition, Discovery, and Selection.
Currently, we are at the beginning of the "definition" phase of the process. The College's search consultants, including John Isaacson, David Bellshaw, and Bernie Jones from Isaacson, Miller, were on campus earlier this week to begin the outreach process with the CMC community to gather information on the pivotal opportunities and challenges the next president will face and the organizational context in which s/he must operate. These scoping discussions continued during the Committee's first meeting, which occurred this past Thursday, June 14th.
We also have developed a dedicated website for the Presidential Search. The website will provide updates to the community, and also will enable all members of the CMC community to provide feedback to the Committee, which can include the nomination of potential candidates. I encourage you to visit the site and provide your feedback. Alternatively, you can send a confidential e-mail directly to the Committee at pressearch@cmc.edu.
Based on the feedback developed through the meetings on campus and through the website, the Committee's first priority is to develop a written presidential search profile to guide the search process. We will update the community as soon as the profile is completed, and we also will post this document to the search website.
Looking ahead, we will incorporate additional outreach opportunities for faculty, students, staff, and alumni when classes resume in the fall.
Thank you again for your thoughts, your interest, and your support as we undertake this crucial effort.
Sincerely,

Chair, Presidential Search Committee
