From Your Pocket PC phone

To use your Pocket PC phone to set up over-the-air synchronization with Exchange Server, take these steps:

  1. From the Home screen on your Pocket PC phone, press Start and scroll to Programs.
  2. Choose ActiveSync.
  3. Select Menu > Configure Server.
  4. In Server address, enter email.claremontmckenna.edu
  5. Select the check box next to This server requires an encrypted (SSL) connection.
  6. Select Next.
  7. Enter your CMC network username, password, and MCKENNA as the domain.
  8. If you want your Pocket PC phone to save your password, so you won’t have to enter it every time you want to check your mail, select Save password, which will put a checkmark in the checkbox.
  9. Select Next.
  10. Select the check boxes for the types of information items that you want to synchronize with Exchange Server. If a box has a check in it and you don’t want to synchronize that particular type of information, tap the box to uncheck it.
  11. Select Finish.
  12. To change how often and when you want to synchronize (for example, as items arrive or during peak times), select Menu > Schedule.

** Due to the convergence of several cell phone networks, you may not be able to expect when you will be roaming on another carrier's network. By default, Windows Mobile 5/6 devices will NOT synchronize while roaming. To enable the device to synchronize while roaming, place a check box next to Use above settings when roaming.
  13. Select OK.
  14. The first time ActiveSync attempts to synchronize with CMC email servers, the server security policy will come into effect requiring you to create a password that will lock your device after a certain period of inactivity. A window will popup prompting you to create a password. Change simple to strong. Change the timer to the shortest time possible in order to maximize the security of your device. Create a password with a minimum of 6 characters (a combination of alphanumeric, uppercase and lowercase).
  15. Click Done
