William Locke Brown '14
Locke is a freshman at CMC, pursuing a dual major in Economics and Mathematics with the Financial Economics Sequence. Aside from working as a student research analyst for the FEI under Professor Helland, Locke is a member of the Student Investment Fund and serves on the Senate Committee for his dorm. Coming from Birmingham, Alabama, he attended the Altamont School and enjoys playing disc golf, visiting the beach, attending live music events, and skiing. Locke looks forward to spending time working back in Birmingham this summer.
Kevin Burke '11
Kevin is a CMC senior Economics major with a Computer Science minor. He spent last spring in India interning for Seva Mandir, a charity working in rural villages in Rajasthan. Outside of class, Kevin enjoys rock climbing, home brewing beer, and programming and designing websites. After graduation, he hopes to start his own software company.
Maxwell Chambers '12
Max is a junior at CMC. Originally from Portland, OR, Max enjoys skiing, the beach, and cheering on his hometown Blazers and Ducks. He is pursuing an Economics/Mathematics dual major. During his freshman year, he worked as a Research Analyst for the Roberts Environmental Center. Throughout his sophomore campaign he served as the Resident Technology Assistant for the Appleby dorm. He is also interested in entrepreneurship working for CollegeMatchers.com. This year he is working as a Research Analyst for FEI, collaborating with Professor Richard Burdekin on a research paper involving stock prices of European football clubs.
Justin Eskind '11
Justin is a senior at CMC majoring in Economics and pursuing the Financial Economics Sequence. He is currently writing his senior thesis on the factors affecting the forecasting ability of implied correlations in currency options. He spent the past summer interning at Bank of America Merrill Lynch in their Sales & Trading program in NY. Justin spent the previous summer living in Bangkok as he interned for the Thai company Mitr Phol and he can't wait to get back to southeast Asia. Justin is also an avid skier and a mediocre golfer.
Reed Hogan '11
Reed is a senior at CMC, majoring in Economics along with the Finance Sequence. After growing up in Milwaukee, WI, Reed enjoys the beautiful weather in southern California that allows him to be an active member of the 5C Men's Ultimate Frisbee Team year round. In addition to this, Reed is a member of the Student Investment Fund and enjoys following and playing sports. After graduation, Reed will pursue a career in finance.
Alex Johnson '13
Alex is a current sophomore pursuing a dual degree in Econ-Accounting and Psychology with a Financial Economics Sequence. From Thousand Oaks, CA, Alex is currently working on a project at FEI with Professor Hughson detailing the effects of the introduction of a clearinghouse on commodity stock prices in Chicago in 1925. Aside from working at the FEI, Alex also performs research at the Rose Institute, works as a Career Consultant at the Career Services Center, and is a member of the CMS Varsity Tennis Team. He hopes to find an internship in the accounting or finance industry this summer.
Arjun Kapur '14
Arjun is a freshman at CMC from Dubai, UAE. He is majoring in Economics and International Relations while also planning to complete the Financial Economics Sequence. Before joining CMC, Arjun interned at Lloyds TSB in Dubai. He is currently working as an FEI Research Analyst for Professor Eric Helland, conducting data analysis on patent litigation in the pharmaceutical industry. In addition to working at the FEI, he is a member of the Student Investment Fund and is also a passionate golfer.
Saumya Lohia '12
Saumya is an international student from Kanpur, India. She is currently a junior at CMC, pursuing a dual major in economics and mathematics with a focus on financial economics. The summer of her sophomore year she worked as an FEI research analyst with Professor Arndt on the Global Implications of the U.S. Financial Crisis. She worked with the Overseas Branch of the State Bank of India in the summer of her freshman year and did a field research project for them, on the Leather Industry of Kanpur. She is currently team leader for School of Wheels under SOURCE, which is a non-profit organization headed by Kravis Leadership Institute, and a research assistant for the Lowe Institute of Political Economy. She is also a math tutor for students attending the five undergraduate colleges at the Claremont Colleges. In addition to this, she is a member of the Student Investment Fund and was a treasurer for the Model United Nations Club on campus. In her spare time she enjoys reading, travelling and singing.
Kevin Potterton '12
Kevin is a junior at CMC dual-majoring in Economics and Mathematics with a Finance Sequence. Hailing from Needham, Massachusetts, Kevin spent last summer in his home state, interning for IDC Financial Insights. He is a long-distance runner who competes for the CMS Cross-Country and Track & Field teams. Kevin plans to pursue a career in finance after graduation.
Sara Reed '12
Sara is a CMC junior, majoring in Economics with the Finance Sequence. Born and raised in New York City, she enjoys playing tennis, cooking and traveling. Last year, she worked for the Lowe Institute with Professor Chaudhary, conducting data analysis on gender ratios in India. Currently she is working at the FEI with Professor Cronqvist and conducting research on the effects of founders' ages on their own corporate firms. In addition to working at the FEI, she is a member of the Student Investment Fund and the Women's Varsity Tennis Team as well as a Spanish tutor. After graduation, Sara plans to pursue a career in either consulting or finance.
Alexander Reichert '11
Alexander is a senior at CMC and is majoring in Economics with the Finance Sequence. Originally from Swampscott, Massachusetts, Alexander attended The Pingree School, a private day school on the North Shore of Boston. Currently in his fourth year at the FEI, Alexander is a member of the Claremont Men's Lacrosse team and holds an active leadership position in the Student Government at CMC as the Dorm Affairs Chair. This past summer he interned at the Royal Bank of Canada Capital Markets. After graduation, Alexander will begin working full time for RBC in their analyst rotational program.
Daniyal Shahid '13
Daniyal is from Lahore, Pakistan and is a sophomore at CMC. He is majoring in Economics and is planning to complete the Financial Economics Sequence. During his freshman year's summer, Daniyal interned at Barclays in Pakistan. He is currently working as an FEI Research Analyst for Professor Paul Zak at Claremont Graduate University. After graduation, he is hoping to pursue a career in investment banking and earn his MBA. Daniyal is also an avid football (soccer) player.
Daniel Shane '13
Daniel is a sophomore at CMC, planning to pursue an Economics Degree with a Finance Sequence. In addition to working at the FEI, he is involved with debate and Model United Nations on campus. He hails from Irvine, California, where he graduated from University High School. He hopes to find an internship in finance on the east coast this summer.
Nicholas (Coady) Smith '12
Coady is a junior at CMC majoring in Economics and Mathematics with a sequence in Finance. Born and raised in San Diego, he is a dedicated drummer and guitarist and a regular at beaches during the summer. In addition to working at the FEI, he is a member of the Student Investment Fund and a Calculus tutor at Scripps College. Coady spent the spring semester of his sophomore year studying international economics at the University of Manchester, and the past summer as an FEI Research Analyst for CGU's Center for Neuroeconomics Studies. After graduation, he plans on pursuing a career in investment banking or asset management.
Jennifer Volk '11
Jennifer is a senior at CMC majoring in Economics and completing the Financial Economics Sequence. She is from San Mateo, California and is a graduate of Menlo School in Atherton, California. During the fall semester of her junior year, she studied abroad in Brisbane, Australia at University of Queensland. After graduation, she will be going into investment banking at Barclays Capital in Menlo Park, California.
Sze Wai Yuen '12
Sze Wai is a junior at CMC majoring in Economics-Accounting from Hong Kong, China. She spent the past fall semester in Madrid where she took classes and interned with a Spanish entrepreneur who sells coal-mining machinery. Last summer, she worked at FEI with Professor Rosett and Batta on a project looking at the human capital of star winemakers. This semester, she is working with Professor Rosett and Professor Ganguly. Sze Wai enjoys travelling, cooking and dancing in her free time.
Eric Zacharias '11
Eric is a senior at CMC, double majoring in Mathematics and Economics with the Financial Economics Sequence. Raised in San Diego, he is an avid sports fan and a member of the Claremont Men's Lacrosse Team. Eric has worked as a research analyst with the FEI since his sophomore summer. This past summer, Eric worked as a Summer Associate at Relational Investors in San Diego. After graduation, Eric plans to pursue a career in investment banking or asset management and hopes to remain in Southern California.
